More on the Affordable ATMOS Combi Boiler
August 19, 2011We know that not everyone clicks on COMMENTS, so they won’t have seen this response to the previous post.
Glenn Yorgensen, Plumbing and Heating specialist at our TBS Towcester branch, makes these helpful observations.
“ATMOS combi boilers are outstanding. Very efficient and long lasting; they say you can expect 20 years from one of these beauties. This says a lot for the Vaillant Turbomax 25 I just binned at home after only 3.5 years. The diverter valve went, which is very expensive to replace (and a motherboard fault – also very expensive).
There is (virtually) nothing inside the ATMOS boiler to go wrong.
They are solar compatible when coupled with the ATMOS solar panel, which incorporates a “DRAIN BACK SYSTEM”. This means there is no need for a separate pump and antifreeze (glycol) station, as there is nothing in the panel to freeze. It all drains back to the storage cylinder when it has reached the temperature you selected.
The boiler is rated at 31.5 kw output, but if for example you only want 18 kw, you can change the maximum output by entering a code when commissioning the boiler. Then it will only run at that output – unlike other combi boilers which will still run at their maximum output and cost you money.
Also the pump will only run in heating mode, unlike other combis where the pump keeps running regardless and costs you money into the bargain. You save on running costs.
The ATMOS combi doesn’t rely on being pressurised, whereas other combis do. If you lose pressure on a normal combi, it will break down in an expensive way. This won’t happen with the ATMOS Intercombi.
You get hot water at mains pressure. Most other combi boilers heat the water but deliver at reduced pressure – a nuisance when you’re filling the bath.
Finally, the ATMOS Intercombi has a learning mode. It will remember your usage pattern and adapt to it. So, if you get up at 7 am every day, after a couple of days it learns this and fires up 10 minutes before 7, so when you turn on the tap, hey presto! – instant hot water!”

Impressive!
Yes indeed! I don’t like sales patter myself, so it’s nice to be able to ‘big up’ a product simply by listing its impressive capabilities.
