TBS Driver Off To Africa

February 1, 2012

Our intrepid explorer

Jason Ridley, delivery driver at TBS Southam, is off on an adventure!

On 28 February he’s going to Kenya with Christian organisation Multiply Network to join a project in Kimilili, a small market town in the highlands around Mount Elgon, close to the Ugandan border.

Jason will be helping to start the building of a skills college, where local youth can be trained in practical skills, including construction, to give them a chance to get into employment.

You may have noticed a black bin by the counter at TBS Daventry and Southam over recent weeks. We’ve been doing our bit for Jason by asking people to donate surplus tools for the work in Kenya.

“I’m really grateful to everyone who has given tools,” Jason says. “We’ll be using them to help build the college, and afterwards they will be used by the college training staff to teach building skills to students. If anyone would still like to help with this venture, we’re still able to accept surplus tools of any kind. Just give them to counter staff at any TBS branch and say they’re for the Kenya trip.”

As for the trip itself, Jason’s excited. “It’s great to have the chance to get involved in a deprived area in the developing world. I’m looking forward to meeting the people and working with them. It’s good to feel you can make a difference. But I’m sure I’ll miss my nice TBS truck…!”

The Mount Elgon region, where he’s going, is where some of the finest coffee in the world comes from, by the way. So expect a few nice aromas at TBS Southam in a month’s time!

Wipe Away Stubborn Marks From Almost Anything, with Wonder Wipes

January 23, 2012

Looking for the best way to remove stubborn marks? TBS may have the answer you need: Wonder Wipes, from Everbuild. They’ve become the first choice wipe of the nation’s builders and tradesmen.

Just look at what these beauties can do! They’re specially formulated to clean hands, tools and surfaces from all sorts of nasties:

wet and semi-cured paint      sealants      polyester fillers

adhesives      bitumen      polyurethane      expanding foam

oil and grease      silicone      epoxy resins

They are particularly useful when there is no water on site.

Wonder Wipes will also remove finger marks, dirt, grime, oil, grease, petrol, inks, and food stains.  At TBS we clean our counters with them.

Wonder Wipes contain lanolin and vitamin E to condition skin and prevent dryness and cracking, there is no need to rinse hands after use.

And that’s not all! Wonder Wipes now contain a powerful anti-bacterial additive that is tested by an independent laboratory to BSEN 1276:1997 and BSEN 12054:1995 – the standards for killing bacteria on dirty surfaces and hands. They are resistant to MRSA, salmonella, Listeria and E.Coli. You can even read the lab report if you want!

TBS sell Wonder Wipes in dispensing tubs of 100. They’re multi-use, so you can return a wipe to the container if it still has plenty of life left in it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Wonder Wipes should not be used on porous surfaces such as untreated wood.

Waste Water Management Systems from Klargester

January 11, 2012

The corrosion-free BioDisc

If your home is in a remote location, it’s likely that it won’t be connected to the main sewage network. It almost certainly has a septic tank, where sewage waste is not just collected but also treated.

But is yours nearing the end of its working life? Or, if you’re planning a new build, are you looking for the best option? TBS is pleased to be trading with Klargester, a market leader in waste water management. They produce top-market products that are environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing.

The Klargester BioDisc offers a high-performance, low-maintenance system that turns household liquid waste into a clear, odourless fluid that meets the rigorous quality standards demanded by local authorities.

The BioDisc uses rotating discs, powered by a quiet and low-voltage motor, to aid the bacterial process which breaks down the waste. It is robustly constructed from corrosion free materials which help ensure the long life of the system.

The Bio Disc has the lowest running and maintenance costs of all treatment plants in its class.

A Septic Tank with Aeration Chamber

The Klargester SuperSeptic Tank is a new-generation product that combines a traditional tank with a small air pump, which can be located above ground and up to 13 metres away.

The function of the air is to oxygenate the waste, which speeds the process of it being broken down by bacterial action. It also has the effect of sharply reducing any odour.

Bacterial action breaks down solid waste into a natural liquid, which flows out into the garden or field. No pollution, and no danger to pets or farm animals.

The SuperSeptic tank is easy to install and is robustly built to withstand pressure from the soil. It has a discreet 600 x 600mm opening with pedestrian duty cover. The operating cost of the aeration pump is less than that of one 60w bulb.

Our Sales staff at any TBS branch will be happy to advise you further – and offer you some competitive prices!

An Environmentally-Friendly Cement Remover

January 6, 2012

Have you got mortar stains or encrusted cement to remove? Are you concerned about the environment? TBS have got the answer for you.

CEMSTRIP, from Everbuild, is  a new type of cement, concrete and mortar stain remover. It is non-hazardous in transport, storage and use. It’s also fully biodegradable, unlike many traditional cement removers, which are based on hydrochloric adic and are lethal to bio-organisms if tipped down the drain.

Cemstrip will also remove salts and efflorescence from the surface of brick or stone. It is a very effective general cleaner for removing ingrained dirt, grease and stains from paths and patios.

Cemstrip is ideal for removing fresh or semi-cured cement from paths, patios and walls. Use it for removing cement from hand tools like trowels, or from mixer paddles and even cement mixers.

TBS stocks Cemstrip in a 5 litre bottle or a 1 litre spray. It is a highly concentrated formula that can be diluted by up to 10 times with water to suit a variety of applications.

NOTE: Cemstrip is unsuitable for use on marble, travertine or granite, or on coloured, cement-based pavers.

The TBS Blog Is Growing!

January 4, 2012

We’ve just had some feedback on how the TBS Blog has done in 2011. You can read about it by clicking here.

It shows that the number of ‘hits’ has gone from an average of around 15 a day at the start of the year to near enough 30 a day by the year end. People from several continents have tuned in – but we can’t promise to deliver to Canada!

Still, it all goes to show that we’re improving our service to our customers, and that increasing numbers of you find our product information useful. We like that.

We thought you’d like to know!
