Condensation Problems? Ventilation or Dry Lining Could Be Your AnswerNovember 1, 2016
If you live in an older house with solid walls, you may well have a problem with damp appearing on your interior walls. This is almost certainly caused by condensation. There are things you can do about this, and TBS can help you.
First, check that your home is properly ventilated. One very practical answer is to fit extractor fans. TBS stocks axial fans and centrifugal fans from Manrose, some with a built-in humidistat, together with a range of grilles and ducting that should meet your requirements, .
Another thing to consider is dry lining the walls. It’s a bigger job but can make a serious difference. Click here for an overview of what’s involved – very handy if you’re considering the DIY option.
Dry lining involves fitting battens to the walls, adding insulation, then fixing a plasterboard wall. The frame can be made using 25 x 38mm battens. Insulation could be either 25mm polystyrene or cavity wall insulating batts (TBS sells Knauf Dritherm).
TBS stocks all the products you would require for dry lining. So call our Sales team at any TBS depot for information, advice and some good prices.
