Are You Prepared for a Freeze? Here Are Some TipsDecember 6, 2016
The frosts have arrived and forecasts are predicting snow. Are you prepared? If not, it’s time to make some preparations. Here are some tips for paths and driveways:
Stock up on rock salt in good time – before the panic starts! TBS sells rock salt in 20kg minibags or in Bulk Bags. Remember that, if you run out, sharp sand or ash can do a temporary job.
Make sure that you have the right tools for snow clearance. TBS stock a light duty snow shovel, but if you have large areas to clear, we sell a heavy duty one, with an ash handle and a metal front edge for greater durability.
Have some grit handy as well as rock salt for slopes and other especially slippery surfaces. A minibag of 10mm shingle could be just the ticket.
It’s a good idea to plan ahead when clearing snow. Where will you pile it? If a big freeze comes, it could create an immovable obstacle.
On larger premises you can clear safe walkways through ice and snow, without having to clear whole forecourts or yards. More slippery areas could then be cordoned off. TBS sells a handy 500m pack of red and white Zebra Barrier Tape, which should keep you going for a while.
So, don’t wait until the mad scramble! Get along to TBS and stock up with all you’ll need to beat the freeze!
