New at TBS: Tuffbank Boxes to Keep Your Tools Secure

July 17, 2017

The Daily Mail warned recently about the latest “peel and steal” craze that is robbing tradespeople of thousands of pounds worth of tools.

Every 24 minutes, according to statistics from the Master Locksmiths Association, a tradesman’s van in the UK gets broken into. It causes anger and grief, not to mention insurance headaches and vehicle repairs. What can be done to prevent this? Experts suggest:

  • at home, keep your keys (including spares) well away from windows and doors
  • leave your glove box open overnight, to show you don’t carry valuables there (like your GPS)
  • consider fitting CCTV and outdoor lighting, and maybe a vehicle tracking system (GPS or VHF)
  • get a heavy duty external van lock fitted to the van doors.
